Furnace and/or Chimney Cleaning (including minor repairs)
This program provides furnace and/or chimney cleaning (including minor repairs). If you burn wood or oil and need this service or if you use natural gas
or LP gas and it’s been a few years since your furnace has been cleaned, you may be eligible for this program. If you do burn wood,
it is very important for health and safety reasons to have your chimney cleaned on a regular basis.
Youth Recreation & Education
This program provides recreational and/or educational opportunities for income eligible area youth between the ages of 8 and 18. The youth may choose the
activity he/she wishes to be involved in and the program will pay up to $200 per child (limit two children per family). Activities may include lessons,
classes, sports camps, memberships to gyms, membership to access the gym and swimming pool at the Michigan Tech Student Development Complex, driver’s education, etc.
Water and Sewer Funding
Community Action currently has funding available to assist those with past due water and/or sewage bills. If your account is past due or if you have a shut off
notice from your provider, call Community Action in Houghton at 906-482-5528 to see if your provider is participating in the program.
Income guidelines for this program are 200% of poverty.
