The Food Pantry is a distribution that is held periodically.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)


Food is distributed monthly at various locations across Baraga, Houghton and
Keweenaw Counties.

  • CSFP is a monthly food package program that helps improve the health of
    income eligible persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their
    diets with nutritious USDA foods
  • The CSFP package includes fruits and juice, vegetables, cheese, milk,
    meat, poultry and fish, plant-based proteins, cereals and pasta and rice
  • Nutrition education is also provided to participants on a monthly basis to
    help educate participants on the value of a nutritious diet to improve health
  • Income eligibility is currently $1,580 per month for an individual, $2,137 for 2 people, $2,694 for 3 people. *Add $557.00 for each additional member.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and CAA Food Pantry


The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that
helps supplement the diets of income-eligible individuals and households by
providing them with USDA foods at no cost. TEFAP Foods are distributed at the
B-H-K CAA Food Pantry monthly, as long as USDA & pantry foods are
available.


  • TEFAP foods are distributed through Community Action Agencies, food
    banks, pantries, and mobile distributions, to name a few. Participant
    eligibility for TEFAP in Michigan is 200% of the poverty level.
  • Eligibility for TEFAP is based on the need for emergency food and the
    household meets the (below) income guidelines or participates in SNAP,
    WIC, FDPIR, CSFP or SSI
